MEET NICOLE RAJPAL

Bringing competent leadership and governance to the BVSD Board of Education

I grew up in the midwest, and for as long as I can remember I've had a deep commitment to public service and public education.  I started volunteering in high school (while simultaneously working and being a student athlete), and though the organizations for which I volunteered changed over the years, my passion for working with and giving back to my community never ceased.  Most recently I have served on School Accountability Committees (SAC) and was their representative on the District Accountability Committee (DAC).  During my 6 year tenure on the DAC I served as vice chairperson for 1 year and chairperson for 2 years, and was able to impact change in district policy and improvement planning.

I have my BS in Nutritional Science and my MS in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I primarily worked in pediatrics because I could impact positive change for both kids and adults.  As an instructor at Front Range Community College I helped prepare students aged 16-60 for jobs in healthcare.  Teaching and learning are a big part of my life and I have experienced them from many different perspectives.

My husband immigrated to the US, from India, with his family as a child.  He is a surgeon with a bustling practice serving patients in the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley communities.  We have two children - a 7th grader at Southern Hills Middle School, and a 5th grader at Foothill Elementary School.  Their educational needs and experiences improved our understanding of the educational services and plans (ALPs, IEPs, 504s, etc.) provided to students.  When not working or studying we enjoy reading, cooking, playing sports and spending time outdoors.

In closing, I truly believe my personal, educational, professional and volunteer experiences have not only prepared me for, but lead me to, a role on the BVSD Board of Education.  I look forward to the opportunity to learn about, and advocate for, your needs in this very important role.
